It will be such a kick to see everybody again! My family moved to Florida as our class was nearing the end of tenth grade, so I did not have the opportunity to graduate with you at B-CC, but I have never stopped missing my old friends.

Following my move to Florida, I played a LOT of tennis and I was lucky enough to meet the president of a small bank, who hired me to do all kinds of jobs (teller, loan clerk, bookkeeper, proof operator) in his bank after school. I ended up working my way through college while working at this bank, and then I moved to Atlanta, where I started my career in finance and picked up an MBA along the way. I started out at Trust Company Bank (now SunTrust Bank) on their Administrative Training Program, where I tried my hand at commercial lending before going into Investment Banking. From there, I was pretty much able to have a go at a number of other aspects of investments - fixed income portfolio management, institutional sales for corporate bonds, retail stock brokerage (they are actually called registered representatives in the business), financial planning, etc. I enjoy all parts of financial planning, but my favorite work is managing stock and bond portfolios for clients. It's great to make a difference for my clients, and the ever changing markets keep things interesting.

Recently I started my own registered investment advisory firm, Goldsborough Capital Management, LLC, located in Baltimore. I'm having fun, meeting lots of nice people and enjoying the challenges of trying to figure out this crazy market. I also sell life and health insurance (just another part of financial planning), and these days I am making a big push for disability insurance and long-term care insurance. Maybe I am feeling my aches and pains more as I wait to get some badly needed knee replacement surgery, but whatever the reason, it has me thinking about safeguarding people's biggest asset - their ability to earn a good living - if they get hurt.

I also have a little tax practice, which I hope to make a bit larger as I look around for some good folks to take on as partners. That's called Goldsborough Tax and Accounting Services, LLC. I'm an Enrolled Agent, and when I slow down long enough to study, I hope to earn the CPA credential. I am too busy taking courses at the University of Baltimore, these days, where I am working toward an M.S. in Taxation.

On a more personal level, my greatest joy is my son, Jimmy, who is 22 years old and a recent graduate from Washington College in Chestertown, MD. Jimmy studied History (his real love) and Physics, and these days he works for the Maryland State Archives. Jimmy is an Eagle Scout, a talented musician and writer, a pretty good soccer player, and a great guy.

I would love to hear from old friends. I look forward to seeing you in November! I have had so much fun reconnecting with some of you over the past few years, and I hope we can keep in touch.
